Josiah's Story
Our Story
When my son Josiah was born, I had no idea the journey we were about to take together. From the earliest days, I could see his unique spark—his sensitivity, his curiosity, his incredible mind. But I also saw how easily that spark could be misunderstood in systems that aren’t built for every child’s differences.
Navigating school meetings, evaluations, and endless decisions taught me two things:
- Every child deserves someone who sees their potential before their challenges.
- Every parent has a story—often filled with struggles, victories, and lessons that can help someone else.
Josiah’s story is mine, but I know you have one too. Your journey matters. Your voice matters. And when we share our experiences, we make it easier for the next parent to find their way.

At 20 weeks pregnant, I learned that my son Josiah had spina bifida. I was faced with a heartbreaking choice — but God spoke to me clearly: “He’s healed.” Josiah’s name means “Jehovah Heals,” and every day since has been a testament to that promise.
Josiah crawled, talked, walked, played sports, earned his karate stripes, speaks three languages, and reads in two. His journey defies the limits others might have expected.
Inspired by Josiah’s spirit and my own experiences, I started Parent Plus to build a village of support for parents. What began as a small community has grown into a movement for parents raising gifted, emotionally sensitive, and neurodivergent children who want their kids to thrive—just as Josiah does.
